Miniature Edinburgh – Calton Hill

Posted by on May 19, 2012 in Personal & Travel | 2 Comments

These are my first photographs taken with a tilt-shift lens, I am still learning how to use it properly and it’s hard to get the focus right, but I am loving the results and I look forward to using it at my next wedding! This is a special lens which can be tilted and shifted, creating an unusual plane of focus and extreme depth of field, often resulting in “miniature” looking photographs. These were taken around Calton Hill, on a rare sunny day here in Scotland. Enjoy!

The road to Villa Minozzo, Italy

Some photographs I took from a car, while driving up the hills of the Reggio Emilia province of Italy. Around this area Parmigiano Reggiano cheese is produced and exported to all over the world. It was a cold, misty, grey morning of May. These were shot with a 50mm at ƒ1.8 and 2.8. Edited with Lightroom and VSCO. I love how the fog shades the hills in the distance, and how the diffused light brings up foliage textures in trees.

Visiting Oxford with Claire

Last weekend I travelled to Oxford to meet Claire, which is hiring me to take photographs at her wedding, in Merton College next August. She has been so kind and took  me for a tour (and we even sneaked into some restricted areas..!). The place is incredible and I definitely recommend a visit, you would be walking across medieval castles, antique walls and gothic chapels. It’s a great place to get lost in, as there are plenty of back alleys and hidden places to discover! I took a few photographs as we walked by and took some portraits in Merton gardens, I am very looking forward to coming back there next August for Claire & Chin-Zee’s wedding.

A week with relatives in Italy

These are some photographs I took last week as I spent some days around my hometown in northern Italy visiting relatives. All taken on a Canon 5D + 50mm ƒ1.4 and 85mm ƒ1.8, edited with Lightroom and VSCO Film (which I highly recommend by the way!).
On this day I went to visit my grandma with three of my sisters. Nothing beats a good traditional “Tagliatelle alla Bolognese” cooked by nonna!
