Buddha Fridays at Opal Lounge, Edinburgh

These photos showcase a style I developed for the elegant night-club experience offered by Opal Lounge Fridays. On these nights I captured most photos in a candid, spontaneous way, making use of differential focus and always bouncing the light off the nearest surface to get an even and diffused lighting on the subjects. On the editing I fixed the tones by using a mild split toning effect and some vignetting to soften the light. These were taken on a Canon 400d with a Tamron zoom lens 17-50 F2.8, and some with a 50mm F1.8.

In the past I have worked in more than 20 venues in Edinburgh (including the Caves, the Electric Circus, Cabaret Voltaire, Opal Lounge, Hawke & Hunter) learning how to make the best out of many indoor environments. By learning how to take photographs in often dark and crowded spaces, I am now confident in working with both natural and artificial lighting in any space.
